As you are getting closer to
Leirvassbu, Stetinden really
stands out, an impressive peak. |
At this time of year there are a lot of people in Leirvassbu, 1400m. The trail is wide and easy to follow, in the
beginning. |
You
follow this trail for 2,5km, around the mountain. Everything is
beautiful around here. We are in the very heart of Jotunheimen now. |

Arriving to the place where the actual climb begins. To
the southwest, parts of Hurrungane are visible, with
Gjertvasstind 2351m, among others.

The lower peak, 1985m, is now straight ahead.
There are small cairns to follow. But if you'll miss them it's no big deal, you will find your way up ...

The actual climb takes around 2h, with lots of rocky
terrain. From here it's an airy passage with a descent
of 50m, until the pretty steep climb begins. This is no
peak for beginners. From here to the main summit,
estimate around 30min.

Airy, as I said. On the final climb to the summit, the hands are needed a lot.

At the summit I meet a Norwegian guy. Here he is looking to the west, with Storebjørn, 2222m a bit to the right. Jotunheimenfeeling!

I have been to a lot of different mountin areas, in Norway,
Sweden, the Alps,The Himalayas etc. I have seen
exceptional beauty. But I will place Jotunheimen up
there, among the very best. The energy here feels wild,
mighty.
