To
make use of an opening in the otherwise lousy weather,
I take a short
trip to Norway. This is the unnamed peak
P1265m, from the road
leading over the mountain south
of Rjukan. I have time for a shorter
evening trek, after
driving up here during the day. |
There
is a parking place by the lake Heddersvatn at about 1150m altitude.
From here a trail leads to Heddersfjell (in the background) or
to Toreskyrkja. But my choise is closer than that. |
Almost
immediately I encounter snow, didn't expect that. And I haven't brought
spikes for my boots. But it's ok to pass such a snowfield if you kick
the boots into the snow, so you don't slide.

From Heddersvatn you take the path leading
upwards,
to the next lake at 1220m. |
Climbing
towards the lake. There is a lot of water on the mountain now, after
all the rain. It's good to have Goretex in
the boots... |
From
that lake you leave the path and climb off track on the ridge, on the
western side. It's not difficult, but you should know where you are
going. The mighty Gausta peak is quite close to the west.

Almost
at the summit, after a little more than one hour.
There is a pretty
sharp drop to the west. |
To the southeast, Stora and Lilla
Heddersfjell. |
More
straight to the south, Store Gaustakne to the right. You can
se
the road going south, eventually leading
to Notodden.

Sometimes,
even an unknown peak can be very beautiful. |
